City of San Mateo Gets a New Preschool

Build Up is thrilled to celebrate the upcoming opening of Little Footsteps Preschool, a non-denominational preschool program located at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in San Mateo. The program is operated by Footsteps Child Care Inc, a nonprofit with over 25 years’ experience offering high quality early care and education for infants through school-age children at multiple locations in San Mateo County. This full-time preschool program designed for working families will help to close the gap of more than 500 preschool spaces in the City of San Mateo.
This partnership between a faith-based organization with available facility space, St. Andrew’s, and a nonprofit preschool provider, Footsteps Child Care, was made possible through a loan from the City of San Mateo. In May 2019, the San Mateo City Council awarded close to $800,000 in funds collected from developer impact fees to three local organizations to increase services. St. Andrew’s received $464,000 to renovate their facility to house a new preschool program for approximately 40 children.
Tuition assistance and California State Preschool funding will be available for families who meet the income eligibility guidelines.
Little Footsteps Preschool is enrolling now with an opening date of late January 2020. Learn more at www.footstepschildcare.org.
